1* Free NHL Pick on Buffalo Sabres +122
No way I'm passing up on the Sabres as an underdog with how they have come out of the gate in 2019. Buffalo has looked like the best team in the league over the first couple weeks of the season.
Sabres are 5-0-1 with their only setback coming in a 4-3 overtime loss at Columbus. Every other game they won in regulation, as they have racked up 11 of a possible 12 points.
When Buffalo is hot, it's a good idea to jump on board. They are 7-2 in their last 9 when riding a 3-game unbeaten streak.
Anaheim got off to a fast 3-0 start, but have dropped 2 of their last 3 and have to be running on fumes after finishing up a 4-game 7-day road trip that concluded on Monday in Boston.
Ducks are just 2-11 in their last 13 after scoring 2 goals or less in their last 3 games and 0-5 in their last 5 vs a team that's won more than 60% of their games. Take Buffalo!

MIKE LUNDIN'S SABRES @ DUCKS FREE PICK OCTOBER 16
The Buffalo Sabres are off to a fast start and have yet to lose in regulation as they travel to Anaheim with a 5-0-1 record on the season. The Ducks are a respectable 4-2-0 and have yet to lose home in the Duck Pond, but I think we're getting too good of a price on the red hot visiting team to pass up.
Anaheim gave up two goals on three shorthanded situations when it took a 4-2 loss at Boston last time out, and here it'll face the hottest power play unit in the league. Buffalo is 9-for-21 on the man advantage and was 1-for-2 in its 4-0 win over Dallas on Monday.
The Sabres have won four of the last five meetings with Anaheim, and I think they'll own the Ducklings once again tonight.

On Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. the (5-0-1) Buffalo Sabres will be taking the ice against the Anaheim Ducks (4-2-0) at the Honda Center. The Sabres will come into this one a +105 underdog while the Ducks are home favorites at -130. The over/under is currently sitting at 5.5.
The Sabres go for a fourth consecutive win after beating up the Dallas Stars 4-0 on Monday. Buffalo was outshot in the game 25-22 and only managed to win 21 of 49 faceoffs. Still, they got the most important stat of the night, the win. They found the net on one of their two power-play opportunities while keeping the Stars scoreless both times Buffalo was forced to skate a man down. On the season, Buffalo has been good for an average of four goals per game while holding their opponents to just 2.17. The Sabres are firing 31.3 shots per night, giving up the same number to their opponents. They have nine goals on the power-play for a 42.9%. They have been able to build a 76.5% on the penalty kill.
The Ducks will be looking to bounce back from a 4-2 loss in Boston against the Bruins on Monday. Anaheim outshot Boston 32-23 and both teams were able to win 29 faceoffs. The Ducks were kept out of the net each of their four power-play opportunities. On the defensive end of the ice, they allowed the Bruins to score two of the three times Abaheim skated with a man in the box. Anaheim has been able to score an average of 2.17 goals per game this season while holding the opposition to just 1.67. They are taking an average of 29.7 shots on offense while giving up 29.8. They have yet to score on a power-play and have a strong 84.2 penalty kill percentage of the year.
The Ducks allowed six goals in their five games before ending a four-game road trip with a 4-2 loss at Boston and I'm not one to trust that they've fixed whats broken quite yet. I need to see more.
Some trends to consider. Buffalo is 5-1 in previous six games following a win, and is 4-1 last five after allowing 2 goals or less in previous game. On the other side Anaheim is 0-5 previous five vs. a team with winning % above .600, and are 3-10 in their previous 13 vs. the Atlantic Division.
Back Buffalo on the ML.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.

Neither the Stars (1-5-1, 3 points) or Blue Jackets (2-3-0, 4 points) will be happy with their respective starts to the season. As the two teams meet up tonight in Columbus, it’s likely going to get even worse for one of them.
Earning at least a point in just two of the team’s seven games, Dallas is above only Minnesota in the Central Division. The Blue Jackets are also just one spot away from the bottom spot in their own division, leading the Devils by two points in the Metropolitan.
The biggest problem for the Stars has been putting the puck in the net, and that issue extended to Monday night as Dallas lost 4-0 to Buffalo. On average, the Stars are scoring just 1.86 goals per game while allowing 3.14 goals per game.
The Blue Jackets haven’t been much more effective offensively, but they did enough to earn a 3-2 win over Carolina their last time out. On average, Columbus is scoring 2.20 goals per game while giving up 3.60 goals per game.
Left winger Roope Hintz is one of the few players producing for the Stars, and they’ll be counting on him for more goals this evening. Hintz leads the team with four goals and five total points.
