The New Orleans Pelicans have had the last two days off and will be rested and ready to go tonight. The Pelicans have gone 7-4 SU & 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall and have quietly been a money maker here down the stretch because they have no reason to tank.
The four losses all came on the road to the Rockets (by 2), the Suns (by 2), the Lakers (by 9) and the Clippers. So all four were against playoff contenders. Six of the seven wins have come by double-digits as they have been blowing out the rest of the NBA.
They should do the same here against a tanking Dallas Mavericks team that has gone 2-9 SU & 4-7 ATS in their last 11 games overall. But the Mavericks followed up a 33-point home loss to the Cavs with a 130-120 upset road win in Cleveland yesterday. I think that was more to do with the Cavs having a letdown after just beating this team by 33 the game prior.
Now the Mavericks will be playing the 2nd of a back-to-back, their 4th game in 5 days and their 8th game in 12 days. They won’t have much left in the tank for the Pelicans tonight and could elect to rest some key players given the tough spot. Bet the Pelicans Monday.
