NFL Playoffs Conference Championship Odds & Betting Predictions

There weren’t any real surprises in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs last week with all four home favorites coming out on top. Only the Saints failed to cover their spread with a six point win over the Eagles as eight point favorites. We didn’t learn much about the winning teams that we didn’t already know, but the Chiefs and Patriots both looked particularly impressive in their wins. They will square off in Kansas City this week to decide who represents the AFC in this year’s Super Bowl.

Over in the NFC, the Rams controlled the game most of the way against the Cowboys. LA seemed to throw Dallas off of their gameplay and the Rams managed to run the ball all over what had been one of the better rush defenses in the NFL. The Saints were the biggest favorites of the week, but they came the closest to losing, needing a shocking missed-catch-turned-interception during what could have been the Eagles’ game-winning drive.

We are now down to just four teams with a shot at the title this year. Unsurprisingly, these four teams have had the best odds to win the Super Bowl for most of the season. Let’s look at what we have to look forward to this week.

The four remaining best teams in the NFL square off this week, and I don’t think you could ask for a better pair of matchups. Both pairs also met in the regular season with the Saints and Patriots coming out victorious. The Rams will find themselves in a similar situation to their 35-45 loss to the Saints in week 9, while the Patriots will face the Chiefs in unfriendly territory this time around. New England didn’t lose a game at home this year, meaning all five of their losses came on the road.

Both the Pats and Rams will find history against them this week. Home games in the championship round are 26-10 straight up and 20-15-1 against the spread since 2002. Only once in the wildcard era have both home teams lost in this round (2012, 49ers over Falcons and Ravens over the Patriots). Now let’s check the odds.
