King has held current St. Louis hitters to a meager .148 batting average while pitching to a stellar 1.98 ERA across three career starts against them. That historical mastery isn't ancient history, either. King already baffled the Cardinals earlier this season on May 7th, spinning six frames of dominant, one-run ball. While he has hit a brief rough patch over his last few turns, a familiar matchup against a lineup he completely neutralizes provides a prime "get-right" spot for the Padres' righty.
