Johnny Banks

Let’s get this right out of the way: Johnny Banks is a two-time champion handicapper. There isn’t anything else we’re going to talk about here that will be any more important than that. We track dozens and dozens of handicappers, and in 2011 and 2013, nobody was better than Johnny Banks.

Most handicappers will go their entire careers without even a single capping championship. Johnny pulled in two in three years. If you remember nothing else about him, remember that.

But let’s break this down in a little more detail. It’s always possible a guy can just get lucky and have a couple flash-in-the-pan seasons. Of course, that isn’t what happened with Johnny.

For starters, Johnny’s 2013 championship season earned a $6,655 profit on over 3,000 picks. You don’t hit a profitable winning percentage on 3,000 picks and call it luck.

But beyond that, Johnny has broad-reaching success in several areas. His NHL handicapping is unquestionably among the best in the world. He was a top 5 NHL handicapper every year between 2009 and 2014. And in only one of those five seasons did he finish lower than #2.

Those top NHL finishes are part of a set of 18 finishes in the top ten since 2009. And his success continues today, with five current streaks earning over $1,000 each. He even has a soccer streak in which he is earning over $1,000 in profit despite only hitting at a 47% rate.

That’s proof of a guy who finds profit no matter what the circumstances. And that’s a quality you’d expect to find in a two-time champion.
