NCAAF Vegas Betting Line: Texas A&M vs UCLA, Free Pick and Odds

This might not be an NFL game on Sunday, September 3rd, but it definitely features NFL talent on both teams, and none more prominent than UCLA Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen. Although the Texas A&M Aggies are on the road for this game, they have a dynamic running game and solid defense to make this an exciting matchup at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Kickoff is at 7:30 P.M. ET.

College Football Preview and Vegas Lines: Texas A&M vs. UCLA

The Aggies finished 2016 with a respectable 8-5 record in College Football’s toughest conference – the SEC. With a high turnover on both sides of the ball, they will need some young players to step up in a hurry, especially on the offense. Fortunately they play against an average defense this week in UCLA who also has all sorts of question marks.

The 2017 season for UCLA will most likely be the Josh Rosen season long parade. The offense had the second worst running game in the nation and an offensive line that disappeared at times. Although they’re returning their top receiving threats, you can’t win many games if your offense is one-dimensional, which is evident by their 4-8 record last year.

The spread opened at UCLA favored by 3.5 points, but has jumped up a point to 4.5. The Over/Under dropped from an opening of 57 points to the current total of 55.5 points.

Free Vegas Line Pick and NCAAF Game Prediction: Under 55.5 Points

Last year, the Aggies took down UCLA in a hard fought battle. However, by the end of the season, that victory didn’t matter much as both teams under-performed throughout 2016 and played sloppy football in their respective conferences.

Heading into 2017, there are numerous holes and questions that need to be answered by both teams. This week will set the tone for both football squads as they look to contend in the Pac-12 and SEC this year.

Neither team has a stellar defense, but both offenses are one-dimensional coming into this week and that’s why the Under pick is the smart play here. The “UCLA Rosens” will once again rely heavily on their star quarterback to make the plays on offense and put the points on the board. They have no run game and an offensive line that has to show they can be good. Last year, they were inconsistent at best.

The Aggies offense is also one-dimensional in that they are going to be a ground and pound team this year with a dynamic duo in the backfield. The 1-2 punch of Williams and Ford should have a big day against UCLA’s average defense and shaky run stoppers. For the Aggies, these running backs will need to take the pressure off a new starting quarterback and new receivers for the team to have success this week.

Defensively, Texas A&M also has some holes to fill with key contributors departing. Fortunately, their strength will be in their secondary with most of the starters returning. Even with an average run defense and new starters being called on to develop a pass rush, they should fare well against UCLA’s pass heavy offense.

The Under is 5-1-1 in the Aggies last 7 games and 12 of the last 18 games. The Under has also gone 5-2 in UCLA’s last 7 games.

Expect Texas A&M to control the clock with their run game and keep Rosen off the field. This game should come down to a late score in the 4th and stay under 55.5 points.
